Once a target for the defending Premier League champions, Ward-Prowse is another graduate of Southampton’s fruitful youth academy. He joins a recent list of talent including Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw to come out of St. Mary’s and his commitment to the Saints will no doubt be a boost to their fans.
The midfielder has been at the south coast club since the age of eight and is looking forward to what the future holds: “The club is in a fantastic position and ever since I joined the club at a young age I knew it was the right place to be,” Ward-Prowse said.
“I fell in love with the place straight away. I’ve been on a fantastic journey, the club has too, and it’s great to extend my stay. I’m really excited for the next few years.”
Despite missing a large chunk of the season with a broken foot, Ward-Prowse had featured in 17 fixtures for his side this season including all 11 since returning from the injury.
