The 27-year-old is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast. His excellent performances in the Champions League have proved too hot to handle for Manchester City, and Doumbia now has 84 goals in 129 games for the club.

Roma forward Mattia Destro is set to join AC Milan on loan and they view Doumbia as the perfect replacement. The Premier League trio were all linked to the player in recent months by the Daily Star, but are now set to miss out.

Destro, also a target for Chelsea, could also join Milan in a permanent deal. AC have the option to buy the player for £12m next summer.
