Man United had plenty of the possession early on but initially struggled to get behind the Foxes back-line though this was swiftly amended with three goals coming in the space of 17 first half minutes.

First Robin Van Persie smashed home after being released by Daley Blind, though the Man United forward did look decidedly offside when he received the pass.

Shortly afterwards Radamel Falcao bundled the ball over the line after Leicester City keeper Mark Schwarzer had parried Angel di Maria’s original effort.

Then just one half-time an excellent Wayne Rooney corner was turned into his own net by defender Wes Morgan.

Ten minutes from time Man United’s defensive inadequacies were there for all to see with Marcin Wasilewski netting a consolation effort for Nigel Pearson’s side.
