Mourinho’s patience finally snapped with regular-starter Cahill following the 5-3 defeat to Tottenham on New Year’s Day – and as a result the the 29-year-old’s Blues future is now in jeopardy.

Such is the Chelsea manager’s frustration with Cahill that he is considering moving Branislav Ivanovic into central defence with Cezar Azpilicueta then switching to a right-back position leaving Filipe Luis at left-back.

Jose Mourinho is still after young Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane with the Blues constantly monitoring Varane’s current situation with the Spanish giants, according to the Daily Mail.

20-year-old Zouma has surprised many with his rapid progress since being thrown into the first-team, yet Mourinho would still like further defensive cover, and considers 21-year-old Varane as having excellent long-term potential.
