Jerome Champagne has withdrawn from the race to challenge Sepp Blatter as the head of FIFA as he failed to receive the five nominations needed from Football Associations around the world according to the Daily Mail.

Champagne only received three nominations and claimed that other associations feared reprisals if they backed his bid to succeed the current FIFA president.

In a letter where he announced his withdrawal he said that he blamed UEFA for mobilising to eliminate him from the race.

This news means the three people running against Blatter are Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan, Dutch Football Association President Michael van Praag and former Portugal international and football legend Luis Figo.
