Manager Mark Hughes was in charge of Manchester City when the Togo international signed for them in 2009, and is aiming for a reunion with the controversial star. The Potters are in need of a forward after losing successful summer signing Bojan for the rest of the season due to a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Hughes praised Adebayor earlier in the season, and it seems that he would be happy to manage the mercurial ace again.

He said, “He wasn’t difficult. I liked him as a guy, I thought he was a good character. There was always that feeling that he had everything you needed from a top striker. He has size, pace, power and ability on the ball. He’s the whole package when he wants to be.”

Spurs are willing to let the 30-year-old go out on loan in order to take his £100,000 a week pay off the wage bill. Both AS Roma and Paris St. Germain have already tried and failed to sign the striker, while QPR have registered an interest in the former Arsenal player.
