This news is likely to come as a surprise to West Brom fans given that Fletcher’s move to Upton Park was curtailed by a failed medical.
The Scotland captain saw his career at Manchester United fall by the wayside due to a series of injuries and a chronic bowel condition which prevented him putting together a series of appearances toward the end of his time at Old Trafford.
At the age of 31 he is likely to have the quality to stay in the Premier League though though it remains to be seen whether West Brom are ready to take a gamble on him.
