Owner Bryan Smart named the horse after an incident that occurred at Anfield last season, when Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard’s slip allowed Chelsea striker Demba Ba to race clear and score.

The eventual 2-0 defeat was key to the Reds surrendering the title to Manchester City, with defeat ultimately costing Brendan Rodgers’ side a first Premier League title in over two decades.

Smart, who also runs horses under the names of ‘Kool Kompany’ and ‘Captain Dunne’, was left celebrating a victory by five lengths, as the three-year-old, 10-1 shot ran clear of the field to pick up the win.
