The Daily Star claim that the former Newcastle United manager will then look to tempt Rickie Lambert into making a move to Selhurst Park.

The 32 year old has struggled since making his emotional move to his hometown club, netting just two Premier League goals this term, and as such may be open to a move to the South London side.

This source claims that Brendan Rodgers had been open to selling the former Southampton man during the last transfer window, Liverpool having accepted a £5m bid from Aston Villa, but the England veteran opted to stay and fight for his Anfield future.

It was Pardew who brought Lambert to St Mary’s in 2009 and as such could have the upper hand in a race to capture Lambert over the summer.

Rodgers is keen on Burnley’s Danny Ings and should Liverpool land the Burnley youngster then Lambert may feel the time right to leave Merseyside.
