The goalkeeper has been one of the star performers at Old Trafford this season, and he has played no small part in keeping the Red Devils in the top four despite the club’s fairly average start to the campaign.
His performances have even led to interest from Real Madrid.
“It’s not true that a deal has been done with Real Madrid,” Mendes told Cadena Ser. “I’m negotiating his renewal at United. We’ve signed nothing.”
He added, “Players decide what they want. There are talks and it seems in principle that he wants to continue there but it’s not signed yet.”
With Victor Valdes now at the club Louis van Gaal may already be planning for life without the former Atletico Madrid man.
