Though Louis van Gaal moved to strengthen his midfield with the captures of Daley Blind and Ander Herrera he is seemingly of the belief that more investment is needed to improve this area of his squad.

A move for Pogba won’t come cheap, this source quoting a £70m price-tag on the French international, and the Old Trafford boss will have to see off interest from Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona if he hopes to bring in the rangy midfielder.

Pogba has claimed recently that he’s still ‘in love’ with his former club and that may aid Man United’s efforts but one imagines their reported £155k a week contract offer would also help to seal the deal.

Such a salary offer is more than double what Pogba currently earns.

Man United saw Pogba leave for Juventus back in the summer of 2012, having elected to not give in to his contractual demands, and he has gone on to mature into arguably the hottest young talent in world football.

Pogba played a key role in helping the Turin based side to back to back Serie A titles in his first two campaigns and is now a regular in Didier Deschamps’ national team set-up.
