Manchester United star Marcos Rojo’s family in Argentina have been targeted by armed thugs, reports the Daily Mirror.

The 24-year-old’s mother, father, and sister still live in La Plata, near Buenos Aires in Argentina – an area that has often experienced trouble, but that the family refuse to leave.

The criminals are harassing the defender’s relatives in order to get some of his footballing fortune. He is earning £200,000 a week at Old Trafford.

“They hit my dad, pointed guns at my mum, my sister and my godson of one year. I want to see what s*** they do now. I’m sick of it,” Rojo said.

“We are always scared. They target us because of Marcos. They know the house, everyone knows. We have to take every precaution and we don’t answer the door to anyone,”Rojo’s sister Noelia said of the situation.

“We had to put bars on all our windows — the front, the back and the doors upstairs. It’s dangerous being Marcos Rojo’s family. But we won’t leave because this is our home.”

The versatile defender signed for the Red Devils for £16 million in the summer after impressing at the World Cup. He has struggled with injuries while at Old Trafford, but has shrugged them off recently and gotten back in to the starting XI.
