Edgar Codesal, Director of the Mexican Referees Commission, has admitted a crisis in the quality of the Liga MX referees.

Codesal mentioned during a press conference that the referees have been in crisis for a while, but denied that the quality of the Mexican referees has reached rock bottom.

He admitted that the match between Morelia and America, refereed by Ricardo Arellano, was very poorly managed.

Furthermore he added that a penalty should have been awarded in the Pachuca vs Toluca match, when Rojas hacked Lozano to the floor but ref Francisco Chacon Gutierrez did not award anything.

The referees in Mexico have been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks since Tigres controversially had three players sent off in eight minutes during the Apertura 2014 final against Club America.
