The 45 year old has been axed following his side’s poor run of form, without a win in ten Premier League matches, which has left the Midlands outfit sitting in the relegation zone.
Lambert left Norwich City to take over at Aston Villa in June 2012 and secured successive 15th place finishes in his first two campaigns in charge.
No doubt chairman Randy Lerner will be looking to bring in a replacement as soon as possible so as to better his side’s chances of avoiding relegation to the Championship.
