The 31 year old has struggled to hold down a regular spot with his club this season, and could leave the Championship on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.

ESPN report that the striker could have left Wolves in the winter after plenty of sides were interested in his services, but he opted to stay in the Midlands due to the impending birth of his child.

Colorado Rapids are now believed to be at the front of the queue. They struggled last season, finished in 8th spot in the 9-team MLS Western Conference. They only scored 35 goals in 34 games, and are desperate to add much needed firepower.

Doyle, who has been capped 61 times by the Republic of Ireland, is seen as the perfect remedy.
