The 25-year-old thinks that as long as the winger has no distractions then he is capable of anything.  The youngster has five goals in five assists in the Premier League this season, and has been key to the Reds’ fortunes. While Sturridge was injured he even had to deputise up front, and did not disappoint with his performances.

Speaking to BT Sport, he said, “He can go as far as he wants to go. I am proud of him for everything he is achieving. I think if he continues to work hard and continues to believe in himself and has no distractions in his life – there’s none now and I hope that continues.”

He added, “He’s level headed and that’s what I like about him. I think he needs to get the credit he deserves for things he’s achieving because not many players are doing what he’s doing in the world.”

Sturridge made his first start since returning from injury in the Merseyside club’s 3-2 victory of Tottenham on Tuesday night. He will be welcomed back in to the side with the other strikers struggling this campaign. Mario Balotelli scored his first goal of the season in the match against Spurs, meanwhile Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini haven’t been doing much better.
