The former Newcastle man limped off in the first half of the Ligue 1 side’s match with Caen, and could now be unavailable for the match at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, reports Goal.

The injury may cause a selection headache for Laurent Blanc with Javier Pastore also battling to be match fit after struggling with a calf injury over the past few weeks.

Cabaye had been suffering with an abductor problem prior to the match, but was deemed ready to start.

He pulled up after only 16 minutes however, and was forced off. Luckily for PSG, they were already winning 1-0 at the time.

The lack of midfield options mean that PSG may have to field youngster Adrien Rabiot on Tuesday, who replaced Cabaye when he came off.

Whilst Cabaye has struggled to make the impact he did with Newcastle at PSG, scoring just two goals in 26 appearances this season, his absence could leave the French side dangerously exposed in the middle against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

The two clubs met in the knockout rounds of the Champions League last season, with Chelsea succeeding over two legs; despite PSG winning 3-1 in Paris.
