Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is preparing to meet Bruce Arena for the first time…

Steven Gerrard will meet LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena early next week, as the pair discuss the Liverpool captain’s imminent move to the MLS. The 34-year-old midfielder is currently sidelined through a minor injury picked up in the win over Tottenham on Wednesday.

Reports in the Daily Mirror explain that Arena will fly to England in time to watch the Reds’ Europa League clash with Besiktas on Thursday, and he’ll use the opportunity to claim a first face-to-face meeting with his new signing.

Gerrard announced his 18-month deal with Galaxy last month, describing the club’s ‘aggressive pursuit’ of his signature. However, his commitments for his current side have so far prevented him from further investigating his new employers.

Arena said of the upcoming chat: “I’m looking forward to shaking Steven’s hand and welcoming him personally. We will have a chance to talk about our club and expectations. Without a doubt he is going to be a great addition.”
