The Barcelona and Real Madrid players have won the last seven Ballon d’Ors between them…
Chelsea star Eden Hazard has revealed that manager Jose Mourinho wants him to match the goalscoring feats of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, reports the Daily Mail.
The Belgian is rated as one of the best players in the world, but he has so far failed to match the La Liga pair’s ability to put the ball in the net. The 24-year-old has managed to score 13 goals this season compared to 37 and 38 respectively for Messi and Ronaldo.
“Jose Mourinho would like for me to score more,” he told French TV station Telefoot. “Us forwards need to score and to pass. But I think I compensate for that given how many chances I create.”
He added, “I’m fouled a lot, there are a lot of free-kicks and penalties that I win. But he’d like me to score more, like those great players (Messi and Ronaldo) who score two or three times each game.”
The winger will next get a chance to add to his tally when the Blues play against PSG on Tuesday evening. The first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash is in Paris, so Mourinho may be looking for defensive solidity more than attacking flair from Hazard.
