“I try to give my best every game, sometimes it goes easy, sometimes I struggle a bit more, but it is always a determination, I try to keep it high in my head, because it is my worst enemy,” Giroud said.

It has been a season of contrasts for the Frenchman so far, having broken his leg shortly after scoring an equaliser against Everton in August, and then getting sent off in the Boxing Day victory against Queens Park Rangers.

Yet Giroud’s brace against Middlesbrough on Sunday suggests he is starting to rediscover his best form for the club and the 28-year-old admits that he wants to continue improving.

“To improve as a player was my target when I signed for Arsenal, I always wanted to improve myself and give everything for the team, for the fans and the club,” the France international continued.

“I love this shirt and I want to achieve big things with this team.”
