“We are only at the beginning of our project. We don’t have any clear targets. There are four teams who have greater potential than us: United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal. And then there’s Liverpool,” Pochettino said.
“We’re just looking to go as far as we can – in the Premier League, Europe and in the Cup,” he added.
Spurs sit sixth in the current Premier League table, well in the mix for a top four position and they are competing in the latter stages of two other competitions.
March’s Capital One Cup Final against Chelsea will give Pochettino an opportunity to win his first major trophy as a manager, but they will also be keeping an eye on the last 32 of the Europa League with a tough tie against Fiorentina coming up.
“It’s going to be a fascinating tie, I’ve got a lot of respect for Italian football. There are always highs and lows, but even in one of its worst moments, Serie A still has great value. I like the way Fiorentina play,” Pochettino added.
Tottenham’s success in the various competitions could be put down largely to the incredible form of Harry Kane who continues to impress following his breakthrough into the first team. The success of the Pochettino project as a whole could be dependent on whether the striker can keep scoring.
