For a Mexican wrestler, their mask is their defining attribute. To be ‘de-masked’ during a bout is one of the most humiliating experiences for a participant, and vast amounts of thought and marketing go in to designing them.

Therefore, it was a massive deal this week when Dragon Rojo Jr. unveiled his new mask, complete with the club crest of Liga MX side Santos Laguna.

The reception to his now unrecognisable red mask has been mixed, but he insists the change is here to stay.

“I love Santos and I love wrestling” he said. “I really don’t care what others think, I wanted to combine my two biggest passions”.
