The Italian giants are keen to land the Uruguay international, who looks to be available after struggling to reach his best form since leaving Serie A side Napoli for Ligue 1.
Cavani could be tempted to return to Italy, and this would be a big blow for United as they prepare to spend big to replace the under-performing Radamel Falcao.
The 27 year-old has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid in recent months as his future at PSG remains uncertain.
