Jose Mourinho and others at the club have spoken at their disgust with the incident involving their supporters, who have since been banned from attending their games.

The victim of the abuse, Souleymane S, has now been invited to London for the second leg of the game against Paris Saint-Germain.

“We are writing to the man to apologise and will be asking him to come to the club with his family as our guest,” a club spokesperson said.

Mourinho himself added: “He would watch not the game he would feel what Chelsea is because in this moment maybe he has the wrong idea of what Chelsea football club is.

“I don’t even know if the gentleman loves football but for sure, he would love to feel that the people who had this action with him are not the football club.”
