Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, appears keen to secure a move for the former Man United man as he is no doubt keen to earn a nice percentage though one imagines his comments won’t go down well with the player’s Italian employers.

“If Real Madrid want him then they should call me,” Raiola told Marca.

“Madrid are a dangerous club to move to, as the pressure can hurt players’ careers, but Pogba is ready.

“He is very focused on his life and his career. Nothing is insurmountable for him. I know he’s liked a lot by Madrid coaches Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti, but Paul’s only thinking about Juve right now.

“Money’s not a problem for clubs like Real Madrid. The cost of signing him would be €100 million [£74m] – whoever signs him gets the star of the next generation of players.”

Blues boss Jose Mourinho may well like the idea of beating his former club in the race to sign Pogba and arguably the rangy midfielder would be an ideal signing for the West London side.

Pogba has the steel to make tough challenges but is perhaps more valuable going forward, the youngster well known for cracking long range efforts, and is also an excellent distributor of the ball to boot.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich may well be willing to fund such a move if Mourinho deems the player worthy of such a massive sum.

Juventus paid only a small compensatory fee for Pogba, after he ran down his Old Trafford contract, and have seen the player blossom into one of the best young prospects in world football.
