Giroud netted his 50th Arsenal goal at the weekend.

Arsene Wenger has praised Olivier Giroud after the forward grabbed his 50th goal, and 10th of the season, for Arsenal in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Giroud is in his third season at the Emirates, and is beginning to cement himself as a star striker in the Premier League, making the £9.6m fee paid for his signature in June 2012 a bargain.

Wenger believes that the 28-year-old has developed hugely since arriving in North London from Montpellier, and pays credit to Giroud’s own hard work in his inspired performances for the Gunners:

“Between when I brought him here, and when you look at him today, I think there’s a hell of a difference,” the 65-year-old was quoted by The Mirror.

“That’s credit to him – to the player he was and the player he is today, plus credit for his whole season, where he has worked very hard.”
