Could Spurs be about to beat some of Europe’s top clubs to sign Ignacio Camacho?
Malaga midfielder could be on his way to Tottenham in the summer, reports the Metro.
It is thought that Camacho could be looking to leave Malaga at the end of the season, with interest coming from plenty of top European clubs, including Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan.
But it is Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino that appear to be favourites to sign the 24-year-old, though it may require a £15m bid to prise Camacho away.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder could become the third Malaga playmaker to move to north London in the last three years, following former teammates, Santi Cazorla & Nacho Monreal, who have moved to Arsenal in recent seasons.
The prospect of European football may be the driving force behind any departure.
Although Malaga currently sit in seventh in the La Liga table, they are still six points behind Villarreal, who occupy the last European qualification spot.
Inter Milan are themselves only in midtable in Serie A, possibly making Tottenham’s progress under Pochettino seem all the more appealing to Camacho.
Malaga may be forced to accept a smaller price for the player, given their current financial concerns.
