The England international has been in impressive form so far this season, attracting interest from a number of major clubs – most notably United, who are keen to sign a new right back ahead of next season.

Southampton lost Luke Shaw to the Old Trafford club last season, and will be anxious to prevent Clyne following in his footsteps, but with only 18 months remaining on the 23-year-old’s current contract, Ronald Koeman’s side could be tempted to sell.

Clyne is ambitious and would reportedly be eager to follow in Shaw’s footsteps by joining United. The Red Devils are aiming to secure a top four finish and return to Champions League football ahead of next season, and are likely to spend big next summer if they succeed.
