The Gunners lost the match 1-3 at the Emirates, and now face a tough road in to the quarter-finals of the competition. The former Tottenham star scored one of the goals for the Ligue 1 side, and was always confident of the win.

The 34-year-old said: “We are confident in our ability so honestly we deserved to win. We scored our chances and in the end it’s a great win for us. It’s not over, we have one more game in Monaco and Arsenal are a great team. We are good. Arsenal is a good team but today probably we wanted the win more than them, We fought all over the pitch, won our challenges and scored the goals.”

He added: “In a team like Arsenal I don’t think they can allow themselves to underestimate our team today but if they did then it’s up to them.”

The French team only conceded one goal in the group stage, and showed why against the North London team.

They did double their competition conceded column, but largely kept the Premier League side at arms length throughout the encounter.
