Liverpool take a slim 1-0 lead to the second-leg of their Europa League last 32 tie at the Ataturk Stadium, yet will be boosted with the slump Besiktas have suffered since the defeat to the Reds.

The Turkish outfit surrendered their position at the top of the Turkish Super League to Galatasaray following a blow defeat to Eskisehirspor.

To make matters worse, Slaven Bilic’s men may have to compete without top goalscorer Demba Ba, with the former Chelsea striker struggling with a calf injury, and could join stopper Tolga Zengin on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers’ men are flying-high in the Premier League, and after beating top-four rivals Southampton 2-0 on Sunday, putting the Reds just two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, confidence is running high in the side.

However, they will have to face the second-leg without midfield stars Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson, who have not travelled with the squad.

It is expected that Rodgers will name an exciting young side, which could be a risky move in a competition that the club should take seriously given a Champions League place is up for grabs to the winner.

Nonetheless, the Anfield boss has silenced critics with a so far outstanding bout of form this calendar year, and youth or experience, all eyes are on the Reds to put in a strong performance.
