The alleged altercation occurred back in 2010, when Rojo was celebrating his transfer from hometown club in Argentina, Estudiantes, to Russian side Spartak Moscow.

The defence team for the two men that the Argentine international had attacked claimed on Thursday, that they would like the case dropped as they had made an arrangement with Rojo. It is believed to be a financial settlement, which includes a confidentiality agreement, stipulating that neither party can talk about the incident again.

Rojo has reportedly been aware since before his £16m move in the summer to Manchester United, that he faced up to year in prison should he be found guilty.

It would have been a blow to Louis van Gaal if he were to have lost Rojo for that period of time. The 24-year-old has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season.
