The highly rated 20 year old centre-back has responded to reports of Old Trafford interest in a manner that may well leave Louis van Gaal ready to make an offer for the Brazilian.

‘I’m calm, concentrated. I leave all this to my agent,’

‘Before, PSG refused to begin negotiations. They have shut the door. I see this as something to take confidence from.

‘It proves PSG count on me but, to be honest, it gives me pleasure to see Manchester United are interested in me. It’s validating.’

The former AS Roma man has started 15 of PSG’s 26 Ligue 1 fixtures, fewer appearances than fellow countrymen David Luiz and Thiago Silva, and his apparent happiness about Man United’s interest certainly won’t bring an end to speculation of a move to the Premier League.

Van Gaal has seen the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans struggle for form this term and Marquinhos is a player with a bright future and a talent who can deliver the goods in the present.

PSG paid around £25m for the player back in July 2013 but then invested £50m in Luiz and would presumably demand a big fee for the youngster.
