The Italian giants were one of many clubs looking at the Colombian international as he sought an exit from parent club AS Monaco, though he eventually joined United on a season-long loan.

Falcao’s future is in doubt once again after some poor form, but Marotta would not be drawn into renewing his interest in the 28-year-old.

“Falcao was very close at that time,” he is quoted on Goal.com. “But now he is in another situation: we will see what happens with him. Now it is too early to think about signing him because we are evaluating various opportunities.”
