Rumours continue to bubble that the Spaniard could be about to return to his home country with the La Liga champions said to be interested.

And if that is the case, Arsene Wenger had identified the Brazilian, Firmino, as the ideal man to replace him.

The Sunday People reports that the club’s chief scout, Steve Rowley, has already watched the player, who is valued at over £20 million, already this season.

Arsene Wenger has publicly declared that Cazorla is happy in north London and is staying put, however Diego Simeone has been encouraged by the advisors of Cazorla that a deal for him could be possible.

The deal could hinge on Cazorla’s contract which is said to have 12 months left at the end of this season, despite only signing a new deal last year.

With Cazorla reaching his 30th birthday he will now only be given one-year extensions at a time.
