The Chelsea manager insists that the encounter at Wembley is the most crucial of his career but then swiftly, and sensibly, explains himself.

‘This cup final is the most important cup final of my career,’

‘More important than the Champions League. More important than the other cups I’ve played before.

‘Do I look stupid? It’s because it’s the next one. The next one. I just think about this game. We have a final to win on Sunday and nothing else matters.

‘I don’t care about medals. I care about the club winning trophies and me and the players winning trophies.’

Chelsea take on Tottenham two months after having lost to the north London side at White Hart Lane, Harry Kane putting in a Man of the Match display during a 5-3 win, and Mourinho will hope that revenge for that reverse will further fuel his side’s push to clinch the first showpiece final of the season.
