The Blues beat their local rivals 2-0 at Wembley to win the trophy on Sunday. John Terry scored, and Kyle Walker suffered the ignominy of an own goal as the West London team won their first silverware under Jose Mourinho since his second stint began in 2013.

The England international said: “This sets up a good finish to the season. Against our local rivals, clean sheet, we’ve won the cup, it’s an amazing feeling. They made it tough, they had a couple of chances in the first half but the skipper stood up for us with the goal, Diego was superb, and every single player on the pitch gave 100 per cent.”

In the aftermath of the cup win there have been some calls for the Stamford Bridge outfit to go on and complete a treble.

They are five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand on second placed Manchester City, and are also still involved in the Champions League.
