The 21-year-old PSV Eindhoven man has been in superb form this term, helping his side to the top of Eredivisie, and it appears that his Dutch employers appear to have given up any hope of retaining the player this summer.

PSV director Toon Gerbrands is quoted as stating;

‘We decided to keep hold of him in January,’

‘But he has the option to leave after this season.’

Tottenham failed with a £15m bid for the Dutch international in January and it may take a much larger sum to tempt PSV to sell.

Louis van Gaal showed great faith in the winger during the 2014 World Cup finals, playing the youngster regularly in Brazil, and as such may have the upper hand in the pursuit of garnering his services.

Depay, who has been dubbed the ‘Dutch Cristiano Ronaldo’, has netted 15 goals in 21 Eredivisie starts this season and is a player of obvious potential.

With record signing Angel di Maria blowing hot and cold and the likes of Ashley Young and Luis Antonio Valencia making little impact in the final third one can well see why Depay would be on the Old Trafford radar.
