Adam Johnson’s arrest on suspicion of having sex with an underage girl reportedly came after the 15-year-old boasted about her alleged ‘affair’ with the Sunderland winger, according to The Telegraph.
The girl’s boasts eventually led to her father hearing the rumours and it was apparently he who contacted police.
Former Manchester City star Johnson was arrested at his County Durham home on Monday. The 27-year-old, who has been suspended by Sunderland, has since been bailed.
The Telegraph report that the girl, who for legal reasons cannot be named, bragged about her alleged encounter with 12-time England international Johnson, to friends and on social media.
