A year after delivering the Premier League, it looks as though the Chilean will end this campaign trophy-less and with no progress in Europe to show for his efforts, the Manchester City board may look for a change.

This season has echoes of the campaign which proceeded Man City’s last title success with the squad unable to convincingly defend their crown or show any tangible efforts in the Champions League.

After sacking Roberto Mancini, the owners referenced the need for “a holistic approach” as a future direction for the club and that was the reason behind Pellegrini’s appointment.

Despite that, Guardiola felt the need to distance himself from such rumours and reassure Bayern Munich fans that he intends to stay at the club beyond this summer.
