As reported by Globo, the 38 year-old, who is part owner of American second tier side Fort Lauderdale Strikers, told Argentinian legend Diego Maradona that he would definitely return during an interview on Maradona’s Venezuelan chat show, De Zurda.

“I am going to play in the play-off games and for that reason I’m getting myself in shape” he said.

“Football in the United States is growing a lot and I think it’s a great opportunity to develop football. I am going to play for Fort Lauderdale. I don’t have any pain, the knee does not hurt me anymore.

“After 20 years of playing my body had suffered a lot, but the knee is okay now. I am going to train, lose some kilos and play in three or four matches… I’m really excited.”

Ronaldo’s last club was Brazilian giants Corinthians, for whom he scored 18 goals in 31 games between 2009 and 2011.
