Manchester United had been keeping tabs on the France international as the future of David de Gea is still yet to be resolved.

However, PSG are hoping that the promise of Champions League football and Ezequiel Lavezzi heading the other will be enough to persuade both player and club to sanction the deal.

Lavezzi has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Liverpool interested, as well as Atletico Madrid in Spain.

But Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is choosing to remain bullish on the future of Lloris by saying: “He is one of the best keepers in the world.

“His contribution has been amazing. He is very happy with us.

“So it is very difficult for a club to get in him because he is happy here.

“People keep saying he wants to play in the Champions League. Well, maybe he can do that with Tottenham.”
