He prefers spending millions on players rather than expensive clothes…

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich barred himself from entering the West Ham boardroom when the two sides met in mid-week because he feared he’d break the dress code.

It took a personal invite from West Ham’s vice-chairwoman Karren Brady for Abramovich to relent and enter the upper echelons of Upton Park.

Brady wrote in her most recent Sun column, via Daily Telegraph: “He’d arrived at Upton Park and it turned out he was sitting in the cold as he had not wished to enter our boardroom because his flight had been delayed and he was wearing jeans, which is against etiquette.

“‘I do it often,’ I tell one of his security team and Abramovich joins us.”

Abramovich has always attracted interest through his unique dress sense for a multi-billionaire since he arrived in English football in 2003.

Despite the unlimited funds in the bank, the Russian continues to prefer the look of a high-street busker with his denim jeans and coats and an unkept facial hair.
