Mark Lawrenson Slates Liverpool Flop Mario Balotelli, Labelling Italian ‘Waste Of Space’!

Balotelli hasn’t kicked on since scoring the winner against Spurs.

Liverpool legend Mark Lawernson has launched a scathing attack on Mario Balotelli, labelling him as a “waste of space’ and that the club can never rely on him.

Lawrenson’s criticism comes after Balotelli offered very little when he was brought on in the FA Cup quarter-final draw at home against Blackburn Rovers which gives Liverpool a tricky replay at Ewood Park.

Balotelli has largely been a disappointment at Anfield since his £16m move which seemed like an obvious gamble when analysed by the public, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the club attempt to move him on in the summer.

“Forget about Mario Balotelli. He is an absolute waste of time. He shouldn’t be anywhere near this team,” Lawrenson told BBC Radio Five Live (via Evening Standard).

“I can see why Brendan Rodgers threw him on [against Blackburn] as he might just create something but, 99 times out of 100, he will let you down.”

With the return of Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling filling in admirably in a strike role, Liverpool’s reliance on Balotelli has been minimal but the forward may have to look for a new club for the second successive summer.
