Blow For Lille: Beria’s Season Ends With Knee Injury

The Dogues’ victory over Guingamp has been soured by the news that they will be without their versatile full-back for the remainder of the season.

LOSC Lille bagged three points against En Avant de Guingamp on Sunday following a superb second-half effort from striker Nolan Roux, who returned to the team for the first time since mid-February.

The Dogues did not start the match well and their three points have come at a cost. Franck Beria hobbled off the pitch in the early stages of the contest and after receiving extensive treatment, the Lille backroom staff determined that he could not continue.

Beria was replaced by Djibril Sidibe on 14 minutes and later appeared on the bench wearing a hefty leg brace.

On Tuesday, 20 minutes reported that the player has suffered a rupture of both the lateral ligament and the anterior ligament of his right knee, two injuries that certainly signal the end of his season. Beria is set for an operation in the coming days and faces at least six months on the sidelines.

Naturally a right-back, Beria is an accomplished performer on the left, where he has been filling in since Pape Souare departed for Crystal Palace in January.
