Manager Brendan Rodgers will be looking for a new leader at the club soon, with current captain Steven Gerrard leaving in the summer for LA Galaxy.

The defender has predicted that Can could be the man for the job, ahead of vice captain Jordan Henderson.

The German had been impressing as part of a back three before he moved to his more natural position in midfield due to injuries recently.

He has continued to play well in this role, and it could be hard for club legend Steven Gerrard to get back in to the side when he is fully fit.

Toure said: “He is a leader. When you are on the pitch you can see by the way he plays he is really confident and he talks on the pitch as well.

Right now Jordan Henderson is very good (as captain) but there is no doubt this boy is going to be a king here definitely because he is a top player and can make a difference in games. He can score goals and his work-rate is amazing – there is no better player.”
