The Metro claims that the north London side will look to finally land long term target Morgan Schneiderlin.

Southampton’s recent blip in form may well scupper Ronald Koeman’s manly attempts at securing a coveted top four finish and if that proves the case then one imagines that Wenger’s hopes of signing the 25 year old French international will increase significantly.

Though Francis Coquelin has impressed greatly since being ushered back from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic it’s arguable that Schneiderlin is still a big step-up in class when it comes to offering Arsenal a steely presence in the centre of the park.

Wenger is also keen to improve on his goalkeeping contingent and in that regard has targeted Chelsea’s Petr Cech, the Czech Republic man now behind Thibaut Courtois in Jose Mourinho’s pecking order.

The experienced 32 year old, who has started just four Premier League fixtures this season, would offer a genuine improvement on Arsenal’s current pair of custodians Wojciech Szcz?sny and David Ospina though one wonders if Mourinho could consider selling the player to a direct rival.
