Reports suggests that the 29-year-old believes he should have made the summer switch to Merseyside, with the club prepared to pay the £6m loan fee as well as his huge wage demands of £265,000-a-week, but the former Atletico Madrid hit-man instead chose to join the 20 time Premier League champions.

The Colombian, who missed the World Cup through injury, has struggled to recapture his best form this season, registering just four goals in 20 appearances for club since joining on a season-long loan deal from Monaco on transfer deadline day last September.

He was left on the bench for United’s FA Cup quarter-final defeat against Arsenal on Monday night, further fueling speculation that he will not remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of the season.
