Zarko Pelicic has revealed that Louis van Gaal’s side are joined by Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund as interested parties in the centre-back, who left the Etihad Stadium in 2012.

But Pelicic did add that the Montenegrin is happy at his current club Fiorentina, though he is flattered being linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

“For now, Stefan stays in Florence and gets on with Fiorentina, where he is very happy,” he said.

“He is happy when he hears that clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are interested in him.”

Savic enjoyed a largely unhappy spell that lasted just one season with City. He was criticised for inconsistent performances, and struggled to hold down a regular place within the team. He made just eleven league appearances – six of which were from the substitute bench – before he left for Serie A.

The 24-year-old has had a much happier time in Italy, making 78 appearances in the top flight. His agent has warned that Europe has yet to see the best of him.

“He knows what he has got and he knows that his time is coming,” Pelicic added.
