Arsenal 3-0 West Ham: Arsene Wenger cools title talk as Gunners move to within six points of leaders Chelsea

Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger was quick to cool talk of a late title charge for the Gunners as they moved to within six points of league leaders Chelsea, although the west London club have two games in hand.

Wenger saw his team win their eighth consecutive home game against West Ham today, leaving them within touching distance of the top of the Premier League in terms of points.

With Jose Mourinho’s men still to visit the Emirates Stadium, are the Gunners realistically in the title race?

“Not at the moment but we just have to keep going,” Wenger stated (via Arsenal.com).

“We’ve won eight of the last nine and we are stronger today than we were at the start of the season. We dropped off in this league because we won one of six at the start of the season. Today we are a different team. We suffered a lot from the post-World Cup fixtures. Players came back and they weren’t ready to play.”

A crucial Champions League tie looms for Arsenal at Monaco, if the Gunners do turn the tie on its head and go through to the quarter-finals, Wenger will certainly start to believe that nothing is beyond this Arsenal team.
