Roy Hodgson: Tottenham Striker Harry Kane Not Guaranteed England Spot

Cumbersome England manager Roy Hodgson is in a flap after Burundi sent a delegation of officials to court the uncapped youngster.

It means the normally methodical boss will be forced to make a quick decision over whether to put him in the squad for England’s games against Lithuania and Italy later this month. With Daniel Sturridge and Wayne Rooney assured of their places, it means Roy will potentially have to drop either Danny Welbeck or Harry Kane.

Berahino, who has scored 16 times in the league this season, was called up by England in November but did not see any minutes as Hodgson failed to grasp the urgency of the situation.

Burundi, who are ranked a lowly 126th in the world, play Mauritius on 25th March.
